District Profile

Hamirpur is one of the oldest district since 1823. Presently it is under the Chitrakoot –Dham division of Uttar Pradesh. It is situated in the south of state capital Lucknow at the distance about 150 kms. and 68 kms from Kanpur. It is also called the gateway of Bundelkhand. On 11th Feb. 1995 hamirpur was divided and a new district Mahoba was created comprising tehsil Mahoba, Charkhari and Kulpahar from Hamirpur district.

Hamirpur district has four tehsils Hamirpur, Maudaha, Rath and Sarila and has 7 blocks named as Kurara, Sumerpur, Maudaha, Muskara, Rath, Gohand and Sarila.

The district has 59 Nyay Panchayats and 314 Gram Panchayats. There are 626 villages out of which 135 villages are not habited. The District has three Nagar Palika Parishad  Hamirpur, Maudaha, Rath and four Nagar Panchayat   Bharua Sumerpur, Kurara, Gohand, Sarila.
